What is your background and education ?
I graduated from the University of Alberta with Bachelor’s degrees in Physical Therapy and Biological Sciences. Since graduating in 2004, I have completed many courses in manual therapy, exercise therapy, medical acupuncture and TMJ dysfunction. I am a certified GLA:D instructor with Osteoarthritis Canada and enjoy working with people with hip and knee osteoarthritis. I have a special interest in TMJ dysfunction and Vestibular therapy, which is the treatment of dizziness, balance disorders and vertigo. Complementary to this field, I value helping clients with concussions and am furthering my knowledge and treatment skills in this growing field.
What inspired you to become a Physiotherapist ?
I’ve always been interested in the health sciences, education, and active living. Physiotherapy is great at merging these passions. I love my work because I get to share this knowledge and empower people to help themselves.
Why did you choose to work at InsideOut ?
It’s an amazing team! Everyone at our clinic is caring, compassionate, skilled, and passionate about what they do. It’s a very positive environment for both staff and patients.
What are you personally passionate about ?
I’m naturally very curious and love learning new skills, especially when it indulges my creative side. As a youth, I loved drawing, reading, music, and running. In my early adulthood, I learned how to blow glass, paint, sew, cook, and bike (late bloomer!). Currently, I’m learning ‘handy’ skills as I repurpose furniture, work on DIY house-related projects, and help the kids craft their next science/art projects. In the warmer months, I’m often found in the garden happily covered in dirt, revisiting Botany 101, or spending time with my family as we explore trails, visit nurseries and farmer’s markets with the lure of food, coffee and gelato as a motivator.
