Shirley Sahrmann, PT, PhD, FAPTA is Professor Emerita of Physical Therapy at Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis, Missouri. In addition to her numerous international presentations, Dr. Sahrmann has been a keynote speaker at the World Confederation of Physical Therapy, and at the Canadian, Australian, New Zealand and Danish national congresses. The MSI syndromes were developed by Shirley Sahrmann and have stood the test of time. These syndromes are described in her books, Diagnosis and Treatment of Movement Impairment Syndromes and Movement System Impairment Syndromes of the Extremities, Cervical and Thoracic Spine.
Dr. Shirley Sahrmann courses are the foundation of advanced physiotherapy diagnosis and treatment. Her textbooks have been translated into multiple languages. Shirley is known as the legend of physiotherapy and was recently featured on the Tim Ferriss show!

Course Description:
In this course, participants will gain advanced knowledge and skills to develop a structured approach to diagnosis and treatment of patients with movement system impairments of the lumbar spine, hip and lower extremity.
Course Goals:
- Discuss the basis of the movement system and movement system impairment syndromes (MSI) of the lower extremity
- Describe causal and contributing factors in MSI of the lower extremity
- Formulate a diagnosis and place a patient into the proper diagnostic category
- Learn the standardized examination format for the lumbar spine and hip joint
- Describe and perform the standardized examination format for the lumbar spine and hip regions
- Describe the specific corrective exercises and their progressions for the lumbar spine and hip regions
