What is your background and education ?

Born in London, Ontario I moved to Toronto to attend the University of Toronto where I completed my BSc. (Hons) in Psychology and my BSc. in Physical Therapy in 2000.    I have a special interest in neuro-rehabilitation and have practiced across a wide range of settings including inpatient rehabilitation, in home and private practice.   I am certified in NDT/Bobath techniques and believe in providing a holistic approach to care.   I practice Scalp Acupuncture for neurological conditions.  l hold certifications in Acupuncture,  Kinesiology taping,  Nordic Pole Walking  and  Craniosacral Techniques.

I love to learn and share my knowledge.  I am a clinical educator for physiotherapy students and am a national instructor of Kinesiology Taping for neurological conditions.  One of my  biggest highlights in teaching was in Hong Kong in 2019 where I taught physiotherapists Nordic Pole Walking geared towards patients with Parkinson’s Disease.

What inspired you to become a Physiotherapist ?

I have always had a keen interest in physiology and anatomy and knew I wanted to work in health care.  My undergraduate degree in psychology sparked my interest in neurology.  What better way to combine my desire to help people and my love of the brain but to become a physiotherapist!

My approach to care was strongly influenced by a childhood injury where I was told I would not use my right hand again and was given limited treatment.   With care that included a skilled acupuncturist, I was able to achieve a full recovery.  I enjoy working with complex conditions and believe in providing a holistic approach tailored to an individual’s needs.

Why did you choose to work at InsideOut ?

In 2008 I was working primarily in case management and wanted to return to what I love – direct patient care.  Jennifer Howey was opening up InsideOut and asked if I would be interested in joining to provide neuro-rehabilitation.  I knew that Jennifer’s approach to physiotherapy and patient care aligned with my own,  so I jumped on this opportunity, becoming the first physiotherapist to join the team.

I love working at InsideOut where collaboration and professional development are valued, and where all the physiotherapists are committed to providing skilled,  compassionate care with their individually unique skill sets.

What are you personally passionate about ?

My biggest passion outside of work is my family including my husband, three daughters and my cat Mishka.  I love music and have learned to play piano, flute, violin and recently guitar.  I really enjoy nature and spend most summer vacations camping with my family.   My passion for exercise includes cycling, hiking and running.  Finally, I am trying to learn German and Russian.
