What is your background and education ?
I completed my B.Sc. (Hons) in Cell and Molecular Biology at the University of Toronto and my Masters of Physical Therapy at McMaster University. Always eager for new knowledge, I have completed further training in Acupuncture, Integrated Dry Needling, Manual Therapy, Soft Tissue Releases and Kinesiology Taping. Based on my interest in orthopedics, I have pursued training in the treatment of Movement System Impairments and am pursuing further manual specialties.
I am also a Connect Therapy Series Graduate which allows me to use a comprehensive clinical reasoning process to find connections between multiple regions and systems in the body to understand and treat the whole person.
My background in cell biology allows me to connect the molecular details to the physical presentation of various illnesses and impairments.
I am committed to continuous learning. I have been a guest lecturer at Medix College where I educated RMT students about incorporating physiotherapy techniques and exercises into their practice. I have been a clinical lab facilitator in the Physical Therapy department at the University of Toronto. Participating in continuing education helps me stay up-to-date with most current physiotherapy practices, and allows me to provide effective and client-centered care.
What inspired you to become a Physiotherapist ?
Working in a healthcare setting and learning about the human body has always been my passion. During my volunteering years, physiotherapy caught my attention because of its level of patient interaction and care. I valued the direct impact that one can have on people throughout their rehabilitation journey. Not only was the variety of conditions interesting, but it was appealing to see how two patients with the same injury can present so differently. This meant that I would need to be creative, adaptive, and use different approaches to meet individual needs.
I continue to love the challenges and the problem solving aspects that come with this profession. It is rewarding to be able to create an environment where I can build my client’s confidence and motivate them through a lasting recovery and a healthier lifestyle.
Why did you choose to work at InsideOut ?
I love the energy and the collaborative nature of our InsideOut family! Everyone has their own toolkit and expertise, and I enjoy learning from each and every one of them! It’s truly a pleasure to work with such a highly skilled, welcoming, and a positive team!
What are you personally passionate about ?
I love trying new experiences and activities! Recently, I have participated in hot yoga, reformer classes, volleyball, baking, cooking and pottery. Having grown up in Toronto, I enjoy exploring the food diversity scene with friends and family, especially on a sunny patio day!
